Frank Michael Zeidler - Chairman Professional Group I

Frank Michael Zeidler is a German painter and draughtsman. He was born in Leipzig on 22 March 1952 and grew up in Ulm on the River Danube. He went to the Kepler-Gymnasium (grammar school), where he took his Abitur matriculation examination in 1972. At this time, he wanted to take up acting as a career and did in fact join some groups of independent actors. After serving in the Bundeswehr and completing his civilian service, he became a paramedic and worked for five years in the emergency rescue service.

Alongside these activities, he began his first course of studies at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen, where he studied German language and literature and philosophy. In 1978, he applied to the Hochschule für Bildende Künste, HdK Berlin [Fine Arts Academy of Berlin] for a place in the department of painting and graphics and studied under Professors Marwan Kassab-Bachi, Kuno Gonschior and Martin Engelman. In 1982, he graduated from the master class under Martin Engelman and in 1992 began working on an interdisciplinary basis with the composer André Werner.

In the year 2000, Zeidler and Hubertus von der Goltz jointly founded the Kunsthaus Potsdam, launching the Kunstverein Kunsthaus Potsdam e.V. art association in 2002. Frank Michael Zeidler has been 1st Chairman of the Deutscher Künstlerbund [Association of German Artists] since 2001 and Chairman of the Administrative Council of VG Bild-Kunst since 2010. Today, he lives and works as a freelance artist in Potsdam.

Lutz Fischmann - Chairman Professional Group II

Lutz Fischmann was born in Osnabrück in 1956. Since 2001 he has been managing director of the FREELENS Association of Photographers with registered office in Hamburg.

After studying business administration and management in Hamburg, Lutz Fischmann spent 20 years working as a photo reporter for newspapers and magazines like Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Newsweek, etc. He is, among other things, editor of FREELENS Magazine and serves as a juror on many juries. In addition, he is also a speaker, moderator and author of specialised texts. He regularly lectures at the Faculty of Media and Design of Hochschule Hannover (Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts).

Lutz Fischmann is an appointed member of the German Photographic Society. Since 4 July 2013, Lutz Fischmann has been Chairman in the Administrative Council of VG Bild-Kunst for Professional Group II.

Peter Carpentier - Chairman Professional Group III

Peter Carpentier is director and author.
He was born in Flint (Michigan, USA) in 1956, but mainly grew up in Belgium. He went to Jesuitencollege Sint-Jozef in Turnhout where he graduated in 1974. From 1974 until 1976 he studied drama at the Schauspielschule STUDIO HERMAN TEIRLINCK in Antwerp, Belgium. Afterwards he studied direction and screenwriting at the NEDERLANDSE FILM - & TELEVISIEAKADEMIE in Amsterdam from 1976 until 1980 and also direction at the AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE in Los Angeles from 1980 until 1981. From 1976 on he worked as assistant director and director of production for many international film- and TV-productions in the Netherlands, USA, Germany and Belgium. From 1989 on he directed and worked as screenwriter for cine films, TV-movies and series as well as documentations. Since 2000 Peter Carpentier has been managing director of the Directors Association (BVR). From 2000 until 2010 he was Vice-President of F.E.R.A., the European Directors Association, and since 2015 he has been member of the Executive Committee.
In 2016 Peter Carpentier became Chairman in the Administrative Council of VG Bild-Kunst for Professional Group III.
