Distributions

Collecting societies receive money in trust for their rightholders and distribute it according to the rules of their distribution plan. In doing so they realise the copyright for their members in many areas. When things are quiet, the rightholders can count on regular payments of predictable amounts. Over the last few months, however, a number of special factors have led to delays in distributions. These include in particular the introduction of the new distribution plan in December 2016 and the implementation of the federal court of justice’s “publisher’s share” verdict.

We report below on the latest state of affairs with regard to distribution measures.
